Way better than Funny People, a similar film also starring Seth Rogen. This film has some credibility because it's based on an actual true story about the writer and Rogen. The authenticity is what makes it okay to laugh (especially considering we know he survived to be able to write the film). I enjoy Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen in anything they do so it's nice to have them together in one place, and with some decent writing to boot.

The Lion King is my second favorite movie of all time. I hate to say it but the 2D film doesn't really work in 3D. If they had done it like a View Master slide with different flat planes layered at different depths it might have worked. Instead the characters had depth unto themselves as if they were 3D models only without any shading. Simba's nose was sticking out of the screen like it was floating in front of his face. The environments looked great and the effects in the Be Prepared sequence was fun at least.

Now I know how to make Ryan Gosling seem like a good actor. Don't let him say anything. I'm not sure what all the hype was about for this film. It's a well made movie, but I wasn't that entertained by the story. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Movie critics must really enjoy realistic violence and hearing the same song over and over.

It's like Outbreak, only without the fun theatrical cheese element. It seems as serious as a documentary but told in a way completely void of a bias. Soderbergh does such a good a job with these characters and events that you often cannot tell who is right or wrong; good or bad. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire movie, but I'll probably never watch it again. Makes me feel ill to my stomach to watch this kind of thing.

Weta Digital and Andy Serkis steal the show here. The plot is simple but effective. There is a slow build through the first and second acts that leads to a satisfying third act of non-stop action with some pleasant surprises thrown in. The motion capture performances breathe real emotion into the computer generated models. You know it's CGI the whole time, but it has a human element so it's fun to watch, unlike the stiff boring CGI usually done by hand. Nothing compares to the nuances of a real human face emoting.

When the film started I was really excited. As it went on I found myself losing more and more interest. Felt a lot like when I saw Super 8. I think they tried too hard to explain to the audience what was happening. The charm of the first act is that the main characters have no idea what is happening. When Olivia Wilde starts explaining what aliens are everything goes to hell. I liked it alright though.

I'm tired of seeing movies where the main actors always have their mouth hanging open. Mouth-breather boring action hero crap. They spent years building up The Avengers, but seeing another one of these things is the last thing I want to do at this point. Screw you, I already spent 60+ dollars in movie tickets on this series so far, and they've been getting worse each time. When Samuel L. Jackson pops on screen after the end credits of these films he may as well be reaching his hand out asking for more money.

The film studios really didn't want this to ever come to an end. It's been a fun ride for the past 10 long years, but now it's time for the Harry Potter franchise to step away from the big screen (for at least another decade, when they will re-release them all in 4-D-smell-o-think-o-vision technology). Since this is their last chance for a while, they actually put out dozens of different movie posters for this one film. Looks to me like a special edition TV Guide or Entertainment Weekly issue with multiple covers. Everybody gets a cover, you get a cover! You get a cover! Even Neville gets his own two posters!

It's hard to predict the future and get everything right.  For all we know an asteroid could strike the planet and destroy us all on the spot.  For some reason it's easier for me to imagine a futuristic world of tomorrow, much different from our own, than it is to swallow the harsh truth of the actual reality we currently live in.  In part I feel we are living in a sort of dark age.  We are governed in this age by the opinions of loud speaking know-it-all types rather than by logic and rational thought.  I call myself a futurist in part because I spend a lot of time thinking about how technology and science could eventually solve all the terrible afflictions we currently face as a species and they are what I believe will pull us out of the modern dark age. ...continue reading

In honor of my 5th Rez Day this week, I would like to give away beta versions of my new secret project...

The ASD Group Info Board is based on my original open group join script, but with lots more goodies added that you can't get anywhere else.

• Shows Group Member Count on the Board!
• Displays Group Image on Board (If available)
• Can be a sensor greeter, giving a menu to all visitors
• Owner IMs & Emails, when visitor arrives or end of day
• Can be integrated with JVA Multi Bot
• Dialog choices: Note Give, Website, Landmark, & more

I am looking for some help testing this in the field.  If you are a business/venue owner in Second Life willing to give this new product a try, please email me at contact@aliciastella.com and include your SL avatar name.  Or you can IM me in-world to let me know that you're interested.  I will send you a package in SL with everything you need.  By participating in beta testing you will be expected to report back with your opinion of the new product, and let me know of any bugs or issues you may run into.

I'm still working on the object designs, but there are three ready so far.  The Group Boards work right out of the box, but can also be customized with 20+ useful settings.  You can use it as a sensor greeter with dialog menu given to all your visitors when they first arrive, or just give dialog menu when the board is touched.

This open beta testing period is ongoing, and I will post here once it has completed.  Please contact me now if you would like a set for yourself!
